Article for Magazine

Sonny Moore, better known as Skrillex to you and me, has won a MTV EDM Artist of the year award AND is up for 5 awards at the Grammys! YEAH BOII! Skrillex has had an insane year, kicking off in February with her new tour, Project Blue Book with support from DJ Aero, Tommy Lee and Porter Robinson. She then released her 3rd album More Monsters and Sprites on the 7th June which features 3 original tracks, F***ing Die, Reptile and Ruffneck bass and  finished off the year by releasing a new album Bangarang on the 21st December!

Love her or hate her, Skrillex has a mass of support, winning Artist of the year in 2011, now up for 5 Grammy’s- Including ‘Best new artist’. Skrill told sinewave on Friday, (December 2) shes still not sure what it all means, what the big picture is, ‘I honestly didn’t expect it all, winning artist of the year, THEN being up for five Grammys?! I don’t even know what the whole Grammy thing is’ ‘I was just chilling, listening to some tunes in Sherwood Forest with a few mates and my tour manager pops his head into my bunk, screaming like ’Yeeeeaaah!’, baring in mind we’d been drinking, having a good time, I had no idea what was going on!’
Jumping back a few years..
After leaving the hardcore punk band, From First to Last, Sonny started her solo career in 2007.  Her first 3 demos were, Signal, Equinox and Glow worm, this then lead to Sonny’s very first performance without the band, alongside Carol Robbins.
Bouncing into 2008, this was the year Sonny’s production career really exploded! After working on her first album for the past two years, Sonny released her first mind blowing dub step mash up album on the 7th June 2010, my name is Skrillex! This featured First of the equinox and my name is Skrillex.  When Skrillex was signed to Mau5trap recordings she had a nationwide tour with Deadmau5 and released her second EP, Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites on the 25th October 2010.
On the 17th august 2011, Skrillex announced her label as OWSLA and will be playing nine dates all over the UK.
TOUR
The ‘grey Daze’ tour will begin on the 8th February 2012 and will finish on the 17th April at Leeds O2 academy, Flux pavillion, feed me and Koan sound have announced they are going to support Skrill! She told us, “This is going to be an incredible tour, I wanted a diverse line-up and I wanted to showcase great music, great people, and great times!”- Looking at the line up I’m sure it will be just that. Tickets are available now

Mock Up- Front Cover

I have created a mock up of what i would like my front cover to look like. I found from research that my audience associate red, black and blue with dubstep. This is why i have used these colours on the text. I will probably use black on some of the writing, but i think i am going to use a brighter/lighter blue for the mast head, i think a lighter blue would reflect the audience and genre of music a lot better. Also if i use a lighter red, or maybe a pink/purple colour it would appeal more to a female audience.
